About Us

What began as a quiet shift became a calling—to tell our story through scent.

This is more than a brand. It’s our roots, bottled. Come closer—this is where it begins.

This Isn’t Just Fragrance.
It’s a New Form of Caribbean Storytelling.

Native Caribbean transforms scent into cultural voice. Born in Barbados and inspired by stories across the region, we bottle the real textures of Caribbean island life—bush medicine, rum shops, folklore, festival mornings, landscapes, rituals, and the language that raised us.

Every fragrance is a translation of who we are—layered, powerful, unforgettable.

This isn’t inspiration. It’s inheritance. Wondering how it all began?

The story starts with a shift I tried to resist.

From Following the Script to Writing Her Own: The Founder’s Journey

The Shift

I didn’t set out to become an entrepreneur.

I was willing to do more of the same—just in a different setting. Another degree. A pivot. Anything to keep the structure I already knew.

Because I had followed the script. Built the career. Traveled the world. I wasn’t lost—I just didn’t expect life to change the season without asking me first.

Suddenly, what used to work… didn’t.

And I kept trying to fix it. To fight for what had already expired.

There was a stretch of weeks I couldn’t even tell what I was fighting for—just that I wasn’t ready to let go of what was familiar. Then my grandmother said the words that cracked it all open:

“Yuh gotta bend yuh knees to jump.”

It’s a Bajan proverb. It means that the seasons that feel like rock bottom—the derailments, the sudden losses, the identity shifts—might actually be the build-up for something greater.

Thats what feels like retreat is often preparation for a big leap.

That moment shifted everything.

Not because I had a plan. But because I finally surrendered to the possibility that something new could emerge—something more mine. Something rooted in the cultural memory that raised me: resourcefulness, resilience, resolve.

That’s how Native Caribbean was born.

A fine fragrance and home scent brand handcrafted in the Caribbean region, made by women from the region, using ingredients and stories that belong to us. Not a nostalgic retelling—but a new authorship. A new season.

And for those standing at the edge of change—not sure what’s next, only certain the old ways no longer fit—this brand is a reminder:

You don’t have to go back to what broke you. You don’t have to shrink to stay safe.
Sometimes the shift is the signal.

You’re not falling. You’re bending your knees. And the jump is coming.
(And if scent shopping turns into soul-searching… we don’t blame you. It happens here.)

The Brand Vision

Native Caribbean isn’t just a fragrance brand. It’s a new way to remember—and pass it on.

We bottle Caribbean heritage—not the brochure version, but the one that raised us. The rituals. The food. The folklore. The festivals. The sayings passed down in dialects that don’t ask permission to be understood—crafted by artisan candle makers who carry those stories in every flame.

These weren’t luxuries.
They were lifelines.
Now we’re archiving that wisdom in a form this generation can feel, wear, and gift—through our recommended scented candles and scents.

Scent is the medium. What we’re doing is translation—taking what once lived in kitchens, gardens, and stories and giving it new breath.

Each blend is crafted in Barbados by me—a Black female artisan perfumer—and an extraordinary team of Caribbean women from Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica, and St. Kitts & Nevis.

We use organic sugarcane alcohol, oils distilled from Caribbean plants, and the memory of what held us together to create something original. Our scents don’t just smell good. They carry the weight of memory—bottled to last, layered to mean something.

This isn’t nostalgia.
It’s reclamation.
It’s authorship
It’s ours!

The Bigger Mission

For too long, Caribbean creativity was only celebrated after it passed through foreign approval. But our beauty, our brilliance, our stories were never meant to wait for permission.

Native Caribbean is here to shift that.

We’re proof that luxury doesn’t have to come from somewhere else. That refinement can be rooted.
That Caribbean excellence is not a remix—it’s a movement.

Every fragrance we craft is an original.
No mimicry. No compromise.
Just scent that speaks our truth.

The Essence of Who We Are

We are the descendants of opposing forces—the living proof that something entirely original can emerge from history’s harshest contradictions.

The violence of colonization and the resilience of the enslaved. African spirituality and European religion.

Struggle and survival. These forces did not break us. They forged us.

Yet, we do not walk the world as half of anything. Caribbean identity isn’t a balancing act
between two sides of a coin—it’s the creation of a new currency altogether.

We are not in-between—we are beyond. A place where languages weave together—Creole, Patois, English, Spanish, French. Where African drumbeats echo
through church halls, and colonial architecture stands beside street vendors, their food seasoned with the memory of ancestors.

Ours is a world where survival became culture. Where history does not define us—it fuels us. Where scent is more than fragrance—it is our story, distilled.

This is the essence of our brand. Not halves. Not fragments. But something wholly, powerfully new.

We are Native Caribbean.
